Strategic Roadmap
During the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school year, Mankato Area Public Schools launched a comprehensive strategic planning process. The overall process and strategic plan were created with input from Mankato Area Public Schools students, staff, families, and community members, focusing on future system-wide improvements to enhance outcomes for students.
The district used a process called “Classroom to Boardroom,” which resulted in a comprehensive system-wide strategic plan developed from the classroom level up to the School Board. The strategic plan includes the development of clear descriptions of the Desired Daily Experience for students, families, and staff. Based on input from students, staff, and families, descriptions of the Desired Daily Experience were drafted. More than 200 partners participated in the focus groups, and the data provided resulted in a Desired Daily Experience Mankato Area Public Schools students, families and staff had the opportunity to provide feedback in December 2023.
At its regular meeting on May, 6th, 2024, the MAPS School Board approved the Strategic Roadmap.
The Strategic Plan Process
The development of the new strategic plan was based around engaged partner involvement which included students, staff, families and the Mankato Area Public Schools’ community. This process included a look at historical information as well as what is happening in MAPS classrooms today.

Daily Desired Experiences
This section outlines the envisioned daily experiences crafted with insights and feedback from students, families, and staff. The process involved asking these groups to create narrative descriptions of what their ideal experiences would look like if the strategic plan were effectively implemented in their school district. These Envisioned Daily Experiences form the cornerstone of the District Strategic Roadmap.
